Lotta Living and M Modern Gallery are proud to present Mondo Lounge - October 22nd through 24th at the Palms Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.
Mondo Lounge is the Ultimate Retro Party and Conference. The event is themed around the lifestyle and culture of Americana from 1957 to 1963 and will bring together fans of Mid Century Modern architecture, retro fashion, tiki, pin-ups, exotica music, Atomic Age cocktails, bachelor pad living, swing dance and the vintage Vegas Rat Pack vibe. Think of "Playboy's Penthouse", a Blake Edwards movie ala "The Party" or an awesome party scene from "Mad Men." There will be plenty of vendors, exhibits, live music and hopefully you!
The in-person host of the weekend is highly collectible and popular fine artist SHAG (aka Josh Agle). Since his first solo gallery show in 1997, SHAG has had successful sell-out solo exhibitions in the United States, Europe, Japan and Australia. A large selection of his artwork will be a premiere exhibit at the event with an exclusive opening on Friday night.
Entertainment
A featured act at Mondo Lounge is Art Vargas, unanimously named as one of the top Las Vegas lounge performers by AOL Citiguide, Las Vegas Life Magazine, and Vegas.com. Top notch live musical entertainment will also include local favorites, the Las Vegas Nines, jazz from the Los Angeles band, Nutty, Sinatra-styled magic by Dimare, the Thurston Howlies, a premiere Los Angeles cocktail band, a Marilyn Monroe burlesque performance by Miss Ruby Joule, Pasadena Doo Dah Queen Cherry Capri. Lounge Scene Disc Jockeys from across the country are also participating: New York, San Francisco, Portland, Seattle, Los Angeles and of course, Las Vegas. Several DJs from the legendary internet Exotica radio station Luxuria Music will also spin retro tunes for your enjoyment.
Exhibits and Vendors
Mondo Lounge rounds out with fun exhibits on retro lifestyle, fashion, architecture, music and pop culture such as Tiki Steve's Stag Mag Reading Room - a hands on display of vintage 1950s Playboy Magazines and Mike Miller's Vintage Vegas Entertainment Display, Tiki artist extraordinaire, Bosko, Witco burnt-wood carving style artwork, and vintage serigraphs by David Weidman, animator for many cartoon classics including Mr.Magoo, Gerald McBoing Boing and Fractured Fairytales. The event also offers attendees a vast array of vintage shopping from vendors with ephemera, new and gently used vintage clothes, pop art prints, and much more...
Cultural Events
Additional offsite events will also be held on this same weekend produced by various cultural entities of Las Vegas such as Friends of Classic Las Vegas, VeryVintageVegas.com and the Architectural and Decorative Arts Society of Las Vegas. This includes an architectural film screening and panel discussion at the former Stardust Country Club (National Golf Club) and guided bus tour and a self driven architectural tour of Las Vegas landmarks (separate admission from the Mondo Lounge event). The Junior League will host a complimentary open house at the Morelli House on Sunday too!
Palms Hotel
The event will be held at the world famous Palms Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas . This upscale ultra-hip hotel has embraced the Mid Century Modern aesthetic since they opened. The Ghost Barat the Palms is a Mid Century Modern inspired ultra lounge high above the Las Vegas Strip. It features a Jetson's futuristic experience by allowing you to walk on a solid piece of clear Lucite cantilevered off the edge of the sky deck on the 55th floor. The Palms also features the world's only Playboy Club, an elegant lounge and gaming club complete with elegant Playboy bunnies and inspired by the nostalgic era of the Playboy Club (but tastefully updated for the 21st century). For 10 years, they've worked their tails off to reach the pinnacle position in the world of Tiki, providing Tiki enthusiasts worldwide with their most coveted artifact... the beloved object d'art known simply as the Tiki mug.

Soap Plant / Wacko will have a show exclusive line of limited edition glaze variations of Tiki Farm mugs on sale at the event. They anticipate brisk sales of these mugs as is always the case with Tiki Farm limited runs. The exhibition runs through the end of October.
